When you launch MMP it automatically builds a playlist containing all the MMP
-supported media files that are in the same folder as the media file you used to launch MMP
.
For example, if you have .mp4 files associated with MMP
, you might have double-clicked “mymovie.mp4”.
Alternatively, you might have right-clicked “mymovie.mp4” and selected “Open with…” from the Windows Explorer context menu, and then selected MMP
(or rather, Minimalist Media Player
) from the list of programs.
Either way, MMP
will look through the list of files in the same folder as “mymovie.mp4” and add to the playlist all the files whose extensions match those that MMP
supports.
That includes
Control | Action |
---|---|
[A] | play the FIRST item in the playlist |
[HOME] | play the FIRST item in the playlist |
[Z] | play the LAST item in the playlist |
[END] | play the LAST item in the playlist |
[W] | [W]atch, i.e. play, the NEXT item in the playlist |
[ENTER] 2) | play the NEXT item in the playlist |
[Q] | watch, i.e. play, the PREVIOUS item in the playlist |
[S] | re[S]tart / [S]tart over, the current item in the playlist |
[L] | re[L]oad the playlist from the current folder |
[P] | toggle3) the playlist panel |
To help you remember: [W]
for [W]atch next. [Q]
comes before [W]
on a QWERTY keyboard and so it plays the item before.
It can be useful to be able to manually reload the playlist when you have made a change to the playlist folder without using MMP
to make that change; for example, using another application such as File Explorer to add a movie to the folder from which you're currently playing. Reloading the playlist saves you from having to exit MMP
and relaunch it to load the playlist from the amended folder4).
[ENTER]
/[RETURN]
key or the Numpad [ENTER]
keyMMP
will automatically detect the external changes you make and reload the playlist for you.
