Image & Thumbnail Browser controls: brief overview

In the main window, if you're viewing an image, press [T] (for Thumbnails) or [Y] to open the Image & Thumbnail Browser.

If you're playing an audio or video file, you can press [Y].

This will open the Image & Thumbnail Browser and immediately start generating thumbnails, in playlist order, of any images in the playlist folder.

If you were viewing an image when you opened the Image & Thumbnail Browser, the thumbnails will start at that image, otherwise it will start at the first image in the playlist.

Alternatively, when viewing an image, Ctrl [I] will open the image in the Image & Thumbnail Browser.

Click on a thumbnail to view the full image.

You can quickly flick through either the pages of thumbnails or the images themselves using the left and right arrow keys: [→] and [←].

You can quickly navigate up one folder by pressing the Up arrow: [↑]

You can quickly navigate down one folder by pressing the Dn arrow: [↓]

by holding down the Up [↑] and Dn [↓] arrows you can quickly go through every folder on an entire drive

All the arrow keys can be held down for rapidly changing image, or thumbnail page, or folder.

When viewing a full image, you can press [T] or [Y] again to return to the thumbnail view.

The thumbnails will be generated starting with the image you were viewing.

For thumbnail pages you are advised to use [G] and Ctrl [G] to resize the window as it's quicker than using the mouse2) and MMP will ensure that the window is resized to contain an exact number of thumbnails per row and per column

When viewing the full image, because able to decrease the size of the window, zoom in and pan up, down, left or right, is all very useful for isolating (cropping, even) a portion of the full image. What you see is what you'll get when you Ctrl [S] to [S]ave/[S]creenshot your changes.

You can press [J] to ad[J]ust the Aspect Ratio of the window to match the Aspect Ratio of the image.
Doing this all but eliminates any black borders around the image.
This is very useful when you want to Ctrl [S] to [S]ave/[S]creenshot the current image (and any alterations you've made) to a new file. In effect, [J] crops out any black borders around the image. Because of minor mathematical rounding issues, when you adjust the Aspect Ratio, you might still have a border of 1 or 2 pixels along the bottom edge or at the side.
In this case, the Numpad [-] and [+] are very handy to remove those final pixels both from the display and from the subsequently saved image.
