MMP
will check what the latest release version is and compare it with the version you are currently running.
The ability to check online is dependent on two files being in your MMP
folder: libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll. Without these files, MMP
is unable to make a secure connection to the internet1).
If you are not running the latest version, MMP
will download the Release Notes, any images contained in the release notes, and the latest “update… .zip” file containing the latest release.
As long as you don't subsequently delete anything, each of these will be obtained only once, no matter how often you open the About Box.
This is also the only time that MMP
will ever connect to the internet.
An entire release requires just under 260MB of disk space and is contained in an “update… .zip” file which is just under 100MB, making a total of about 360MB.
Unless you are very short of disk space, you are recommended to keep the Release Notes and images (in the '\releaseNotes' subfolder) and at least the most recent “update… .zip” file.
Having said that, once you are running the latest version, MMP
won't redownload the .zip file.
You can read the Release Notes by clicking on the What's New?
button in the About Box1)
This window can be resized to better accommodate the contents of the Release Notes.
All images will be displayed, and any links contained in the text can be clicked and will open in your default browser.
