NEW FEATURES

• create a Preview/Contact Sheet almost instantly

• in the .conf file (and the Config Dialog) you can
  • set the percentage of the video to skip at the beginning to allow for opening logos, etc (defaults to 5%)
  • set the percentage of the video to ignore at the end to allow for closing credits (defaults to 5%)
  • set the number of columns and rows (defaults to 4×5 - 5×5 shown as a non-default example)
  • set the width of each thumbnail (defaults to 300 pixels)
  • set whether you want to view the Contact/Preview Sheet as soon as it's created (opens in a new instance of MMP)
  • set whether you want the Preview Sheet saved as a high quality JPG or an even higher resolution PNG
• these options are configurable from a new tab in the Config Dialog:

Improvements

• fixed a minor issue when exporting one single segment where you end up with both the exported segment and the final edited file, both of which are identical. This wastes disk space. The functionality to simply rename the one exported segment to the final edited file got lost during the many v6.0.0 enhancements. It has been restored
• in the Audio & Video Timeline Editor when showing the default “Segment nn” segment titles, when you cut a segment in two you could end up with two segments with the same title and one wouldn't match its segment number. This didn't affect the export but it was a little confusing, visually. Segment titles are now kept unique
• the ability to remove audio Covert Art from a file entirely by deselecting its stream has been restored
• for some non-standard videos, if no streams were reported in the Editor, the Export button was disabled. It is now enabled regardless. When there are no streams reported and you only have the one default segment for the entire video, when you click Export, MMP will simply make a copy of the video file. This uses slightly different ffmpeg parameters from the current Copy facility, so between the two of them, you should be able to copy a malformed video file and edit the copy instead
• the countdown of active shredding tasks reported in both the Main Media Window and the Image & Thumbnail Browser now gives a smoother countdown, particularly when there are large numbers of files involved
• you can now edit files which contain apostrophes in their file name. Previously, such a file would break the ffmpeg command line parameters but a fix for this has now been implemented. Until now, MMP actively prevented you from opening the Editor until you had fixed the file name. This restriction has now been lifted
• if you already have the Audio & Video Timeline Editor open, the lower parts of the Ctrl-[H] quick Help panel and the [P] Playlist panel will now display on top of the Segments & Streams Panel

New Look Image & Thumbnail Browser

• the browser now follows the Main Media Window theming without a standard thick window frame
• this makes images more immersive and focal, the same as with videos
• it also makes the browser more responsive to resizing and to drawing thumbnails
• on that point, when viewing thumbnails, the best way to resize the window is still with [G] and Ctrl-[G] as it resizes based on the size of the thumbnails, which makes it significantly faster to respond than trying to drag a window edge with the mouse
• the lack of a standard window frame (with the exception of the title bar) makes the status bar and all its information much more subtle and unobtrusive, and keeps the displayed image as the main focus
• when first launched, the Image & Thumbnail Browser window will match the aspect ratio of the image that launched it so that the image fits the window perfectly
• of course, you can always use [J] or [M] on any image:
  • [J] will ad[J]ust the window's height to match the image's aspect ratio
  • [M]aximize will do the same thing but at the largest size for the height of your monitor
• with the browser, you can get a lot done with the window and the displayed image using just a combination of [G], Ctrl-[G], [H], [J] and [M], all handily-located in the middle of your keyboard

A Note About MPV Playback
MMP: Minimalist Media Player uses MPV as a library (aka the libmpv-2.dll file) to perform all the playback of audio and video files and to display images.
If you have any playback issues, especially with video files, it may help to download a different copy of libmpv-2.dll from https://github.com/shinchiro/mpv-winbuild-cmake/releases/.
You should download any mpv-dev-x86_64-v3……7z file. -dev- is the keyword to look for in the file name.
If you have a particularly old processor then ignore the v3 files and download any other mpv-dev-x86_64……7z file instead.

Quick Install
The quickest way to get up and running with MMP is to

• unzip the .zip file to any folder, e.g. C:\MMP\
• run the mmp-install.bat file which will register all the file extensions that MMP supports*
• double-click any media file (audio, video, image) in your File Explorer software

* mmp-uninstall.bat unregisters them

Asset files
The “…full.zip” release file below contains everything you need to run MMP: Minimalist Media Player:

N.B. Only MinimalistMediaPlayer.exe will be updated automatically. If the zip file contains newer versions of the other files, you should update and test these for yourself to ensure they will run on your Windows system. MMP will not make that assumption and overwrite your working versions. You are advised to make a copy of the older versions in case you need to revert to them.
